High School Youth (UniTY)

About three times every two months, a small eclectic group of adolescents meet. Why are the teens there? What holds them together? Their name provides the answer: University Temple Youth, or UniTY. UniTY is a group of Jewish teenagers who come together to discuss their heritage and do community service. UniTY has hosted events such as carnivals and plays for the Religious School at Congregation Beth Shalom and Jewvie nights, or movie nights during which they watch a movie and relate it to their Jewish values and consequently its application in their lives. Unity also does projects in the wider community such as planting flowers in front of the hospice, and volunteering at the Brazos Valley Food Bank. Allowing Jewish youth in the College Station/Bryan area to have a continuing link to their synagogue, UniTY helps them retain their cultural heritage and values.
